FINALLY ! ! ! I can boil a whole bunch of water and not worry about the container bursting - I don't like using plastic pitchers...The pitcher is very delicate, the glass is thin but I have filled it up and the pitcher held up to the weight as did the handle...My hand fits inside the pitcher, an important feature for me because I do not like using those sponges on a stick...I made tea with lemon this morning and took a picture - it's visually appealing as well...
This is even better than I hoped. Easy to carry, lots of capacity, seeps strong, and the stopper that opens automatically to pout is just perfect. The metal mesh cone I ordered to make coffee and tea Japanese style (also a 5-star product) fits perfectly sitting on top and I have not spilled a single drop in multiple uses. Excellent product.
I use this to make sure I drink enough water each day. My goal is to drink one pitcher full per day, so it’s easy way to keep track. Looks nice sitting on kitchen counter. I rarely put fruit etc in to flavor water so the strainer isn’t necessary for me but I have used that a couple of times. It would be good iced tea pitcher if you put lemons in. My only negative impression is that the metal lid is brushed and not shiny, making it look a bit More utilitarian than I like, esp with the strainer showing too. But pluses are that it’s glass and not plastic, seems well made. The glass seems a bit delicate though.
I bought this as a gift for my friend (that has Parkinson's disease) to use as a wine carafe. He has had several carafes over the years, that have broken or lost/broken stopper tops. My friend has limited strength, dexterity and coordination. The slim neck makes this carafe easy enough for him to handle without difficulties. Also, love that the engineering and design of stopper that prevents dripping. Thank You!
Just be careful setting it down on a counter top as the glass does seem a little thin and it would probably break fairly easily if hit hard enough.
Love the subtle design features. The metal top stays closed via gravity, but when you tilt the Carafe to pour, the lid opens by the liquid pushing against it, allowing a controlled pour. The stopper is held in place with a silicone-like material that stays in securely. The 50 oz size is generous enough that you don't need to keep refilling it but not so large to take up loads of space. The throat of the carafe is wide enough to allow a scrub brush to be inserted for a thorough cleaning which is important to me. The height of the container is also not to tall to have the base beyond the reach of the cleaning brush. Extremely pleased with the size, design and utility of this product! Absolutely love it.
Larger than expected, holds a lot of water. I use it at my bedside.
I have tried a lot of glass pitchers, for storing water, tea, juice, kefir, in the fridge, and have been unhappy with all of them. They don't pour right, don't seal well, etc. I tried one of these to chill filtered water, and it was great. No drips, no odors picked up by the water. I just received my second one, for storing tea, so I now have one large and one smaller version. Both are great. Rubber collar comes off the lid for cleaning, too, which is nice.
This glass carafe is perfect for my needs. I purify my red wines because I'm allergic to sulfites. I've purchased wines that are 85% sulfite free and then I found this carafe which is perfect for my purifier. This holds more than a 750 ml bottle of wine, but that's fine with me.
We love this carafe. It's elegant to see on the counter, and has good hand feel. In our home it's used exclusively for water. It's good the glass portion is dishwasher safe, and I enjoy the way the top stays closed then opens easily to pour. Due to a perfectionist streak, when placing the top back on after refilling, I make sure the black gasket is smooth all the way around the glass . . . a slight twisting motion does it quick smart. At first I was suspicions of the black material, having a lingering smell. But after gentle hand washing and a 10-20 minute soak in cold water, it's fragrance free. We have a dedicated spot to place the carafe on our stone counters with a brand new potholder that I like to see. Positive all the way around
